Wisteria House, Ipswich
Wisteria House is a home for adults with learning disabilities who may have associated mental health problems.
The philosophy at Wisteria House is person centred care. Our experienced trained staff encourage each service user to express their individuality and support them in making and gaining skills. We enable service users to be as independent as they wish but we also realise that support from staff and a warm caring environment are equally important.
Service users actively participate in all aspects of daily life at Wisteria House such as planning menus, shopping, choosing places to visit in the community, organising parties, barbeques and other events.
Services users opinions are aired and decisions made at monthly resident’s meetings. The views of parents, social workers and other professionals are also sought via questionnaires. Service users are supported in maintaining contact with family, friends and others. Visitors are always welcome.
In the immediate vicinity there are facilities such as local GP surgeries, libraries, dentists, the Gainsborough sports centre, as well as the Murrayside Education Centre.
Wisteria House is in a prime location and a bus service runs to the town centre stops directly in front of the house. The nearby town of Ipswich also boasts many attractions.
